Growing Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Seedlings
- Soak the Soil Pellets: Place the soil pellets in a shallow tray and add water. Let them expand fully, which should take about 10 minutes.
- Fill the Pots: Once expanded, place the soil pellets into the Trays.
Step 2: Planting the Seeds
- Sow the Seeds: Make a small hole about 0.5 cm deep in the center of each pot. Place 1-2 chilli seeds in each hole and cover lightly with soil.
- Label the Pots: Use the provided labels to mark each pot with the type of chilli.
Step 3: Initial Care
- Watering: Lightly water the pots to keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged. Use a spray bottle for gentle watering.
- Warmth: Place the pots in a warm, sunny location. Chilli seeds germinate best at temperatures between 20-30°C (68-86°F).
Step 4: Germination and Growth
- Wait for Germination: Seeds should begin to sprout in 7-14 days. Keep the soil moist during this period.
- Sunlight: Once germinated, ensure the seedlings get plenty of light. A sunny windowsill or a grow light works well.
Step 5: Transplanting
- Prepare Larger Pots or Garden Bed: When seedlings are about 5-10 cm tall and have a few sets of leaves, they are ready to be transplanted.
- Transplant Carefully: Move each plant to a larger pot or a spot in your garden with well-draining soil. Be gentle with the roots.
Step 6: Ongoing Care
- Water Regularly: Water the plants regularly, ensuring the soil stays moist but not soaked.
- Feed Your Plants: Use a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks to encourage healthy growth.
- Support: As plants grow taller, they may need support. Use stakes to keep them upright.
Step 7: Harvesting
- Time to Harvest: Chillies are typically ready to harvest 70-90 days after planting, depending on the variety.
- Harvesting: Use scissors or pruning shears to cut the chillies from the plant, leaving a small stem attached to the fruit.
Enjoy your homegrown chillies fresh, dried, or in your favorite dishes! Happy growing!
